I've Walked Your Path
My name is David Shepherd. I didn’t start in the boardroom. I started in the trenches.
I self-studied my way to a CISSP and CISM, built my first security program from scratch, and worked my way up to managing cyber security.
This work helped earn the company a spot on Forbes’ list of the most cyber-secure companies in the world.
For the last 17 years, I’ve built security awareness programs, led incident response operations, implemented Microsoft’s full security suite, and mentored interns who later became full-time analysts.
I’ve felt the sting of rejection. Being told, “you’re not ready for leadership.” I’ve endured the burnout of 60-hour weeks and the frustration of watching others with less experience move ahead simply because they spoke the language of leadership.
